Important changes have come into effect this year regarding the use of motorway vignettes. The main changes include the introduction of new toll road sections, modifications to toll categories, and the availability of discounts in certain counties.
Although the base price of motorway vignettes has increased in line with inflation, many motorists can save up to HUF 15,000 compared to the previous year.

New toll road sections, new e-vignettes

One of the most important changes this year is that three new road sections have become toll roads.

Tolls must now be paid on:

• the M6 motorway between Bátaszék and the national border (Ivándárda)
• the M44 motorway from the Kecskemét North–Lajosmizse junction to the Szentkirály junction, as well as the section between Tiszaug and Tiszakürt

The affected road sections are located in Pest, Baranya and Bács-Kiskun counties, therefore the corresponding county vignettes must be purchased.

Discounts due to road renovations

At the same time, motorists have received significant discounts in several counties due to road renovation works.

As a result of the renovation and lane expansion of the M1 motorway, which began in autumn and will last for several years, the price of the annual county vignette for Pest, Fejér, Komárom-Esztergom and Győr-Moson-Sopron counties has been reduced to HUF 15,000 for passenger cars.

This is roughly half of last year’s price, meaning substantial savings for drivers using these sections.

A similar compensation applies in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County.
The M30 motorway section between Miskolc North and Szikszó was closed in February 2024 and reopened to traffic on 30 December 2025. Due to these restrictions, the county vignette price for this year is only HUF 2,500 for motorists.

Valid fees for D1 category vehicles in 2026

• Daily vignette: HUF 5,550
• 10-day vignette: HUF 6,900
• Monthly vignette: HUF 11,170
• Annual national vignette: HUF 61,760
• Annual county vignette: HUF 7,190

Not only e-vignette prices have changed…

The surcharge amounts effective from 1 January 2026 are as follows:

• Basic surcharge (payment within 60 days): HUF 27,790
• Increased surcharge (payment after 60 days): HUF 95,730

In addition, the amendment of the legislation clarified the conditions for refunding multiple purchased entitlements in the ITM Decree No. 45/2020 (XI. 28.) on motorways, expressways and main roads subject to usage fees and their charges.

Reminder:

Always check the license plate number and the toll category, as an e-vignette purchased with incorrect data will result in a surcharge.
