Several changes happened to the e-vignette system from 1 January 2024 which concern, among others, toll payment by buses, coaches and recreational vehicles (RVs) over 3.5 tonnes, towing rules, toll road sections and e-vignette rates.
Changes affecting buses and coaches
Pursuant to Act LXVII of 2013, buses and coaches classified as heavy-duty vehicles, i.e. whose maximum authorised total mass is more than 3.5 t will be charged on the basis of the distance travelled in the e-toll system from 1 February 2024, i.e. e-vignettes cannot be purchased for these vehicles.
The B2 vehicle category will be phased out in the user charge e-vignette system from 1 February 2024.
From this date onwards, vehicles in category M2 with a maximum authorised total mass not exceeding 3.5 t will belong to vehicle category D2.
2024 vignette prices to increase significantly
This is how much more expensive D1 vignettes bought by motorists are:
- 10-day: HUF 6400 (in 2023 HUF 5500)
- monthly: HUF 10360 (in 2023 HUF 8900)
- annual: HUF 57260 (in 2023 HUF 49190)
- annual county: HUF 6660 (in 2023 HUF 5720)
Important!!! Anyone who drives up on a toll road by mistake will have a maximum of 60 minutes from the time of the drive to purchase the right to use the road!
We wish accident-free transport in 2024 as well!
